Contract on the second phase of remediation of the Mojkovac Tailings Pond signed in Podgorica
In Podgorica on September 19, 2008 a 3,9 million euros worth contract on the second phase of remediation of the Mojkovac Tailings Pond was signed by the representatives of the Public Works Agency, the Czech company Vodni Zdroje and the UNDP Montenegro. In the presence of the main partner in the country, the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection of Montenegro, the contract was signed by Mr. Žarko Živković, Director of the Public Works Agency, Mr. Alexander Avanesov, UNDP Resident Representative to Montenegro and Mr. Tomáš Hájek, Director of the Vodni Zdroje Company which is a works contractor. According to the plan, the second phase of the Mojkovac tailings pond remediation will be completed within 13 months, and the entire remediation project by the end of 2010.
The goal of the 30 months Programme is to improve the
environmental situation and quality of life for citizens living in and
around polluted areas in the most economical way.
