Western Balkans Environment Programe

The event was organized with a view to briefing citizens from Mojkovac about the activities and works carried out so far and about activities and works planned for the next 13 months. Taking in consideration interest demonstrated by citizens from Mojkovac, it was agreed to organize such events periodically so as to provide useful information exchange between the stakeholders involved and the inhabitants from that municipality.

The introductory address and the presentations by UNDP, Agency for Public Works and Vodni Zdrovje led to discussion and questions mainly focused on matters concerning public health and influence of Tailing Mine Impoundment on the Tara River and its future impact on inhabitants. An Important part of the discussion focused on the use of the rehabilitated area of the TMI, once the recultivation is finalized. UNDP representatives presented a plan for organizing international competition for providing architectural designs that could suggest the use of the rehabilitated 20 ha of land.
